The California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) has launched the $100 million RAPID program to accelerate the development and delivery of platform-based genetic therapies for rare diseases. Building on the rapid success of a life-saving therapy developed for Baby KJ, RAPID aims to create a scalable model that can bring treatments to patients faster—addressing the urgent needs of the 1 in 10 Americans living with rare diseases, most of which currently have no approved therapy.
